This captivating work of art, a piece of abstract art, is distinguished by its simplicity and mastery of visual techniques. It features a circular composition, where three circles overlap harmoniously, creating an effect of transparency and superposition. The circles are subtly tinted with blue and pink, adding a dimension of delicate but striking chromatic contrast. At the center of the composition is a pristine white area, a perfect void that immediately catches the eye and evokes a feeling of purity and tranquility. Around this void, the semi-transparent circles blend together, forming intermediate shades of color that evoke feelings of calm and contemplation. The background of the work is made up of a uniform grayish blue hue, which serves as a neutral backdrop and highlights the brightness of the circles. This background also adds a silent depth, amplifying the contrast with the bright and colorful central elements. The choice of colors, the perfection of the geometric shapes and the subtlety of the gradients demonstrate the artist's great technical mastery. Every detail is thought out and executed with precision, creating a perfect visual balance. This work is not simply an exploitation of shapes and colors; it challenges the viewer to delve into introspective reflection. It manages to transform simple geometry into a refined and sophisticated visual and emotional experience.
Presentation
Jaakko Antti Mattila, born in 1976 in Oulu, Finland, is a notable Finnish artist. He was educated at The Surrey Institute of Art & Design University College and graduated in 2001. Mattila has exhibited his work in both galleries and public spaces around the world, including Japan, the UK, Italy and France. Mattila's art explores light and nature, creating a unique visual expression. His work often deals with themes of infinity, grandeur and time. He uses various techniques, including watercolor, oil paint, printmaking, and sculpture, and often participates in collaborative community art projects. The patterns that often appear in his work – such as spheres, cubes and spirals – can be seen as nature's building blocks, moving from the very small to the very large. His work deals with elements that we know exist, but may not fully understand. He is fascinated by the unknown in the universe and life, aspects that even science admits it does not fully understand. This fascination with time and impermanence is at the heart of an exciting collaboration Jaakko Mattila has with Noma Projects. Together they have explored the idea of artworks created from seasonal ingredients
