Description
This artwork is a vivid and imaginative reimagining of the iconic U.S. one hundred dollar bill, cleverly substituting the traditional imagery with a cartoon character. The central figure's face playfully replaces Benjamin Franklin's portrait, merging pop culture with high finance. The character's expression adds an element of whimsy, contrasting sharply with the typically serious demeanor of currency. Brilliant shades of green dominate the design, enhancing the lifelike illusion of a real banknote. The intricate details remain true to the original, with line work that mimics official engravings. Subtle alterations, such as "United States of America" humorously modified, blend satire with artistry. This piece challenges perceptions of value and the intersection of art and capitalism, making it a thoughtful conversation piece. Its bold and playful execution showcases striking creativity.
Presentation
Louis Michel Krüger (b. 1997) is a contemporary mixed-media artist working between Trier, Germany, and Luxembourg. Known for his distinctive 3D technique, Krüger builds his compositions from multiple layers of precisely cut paper graphics, creating vivid scenes that appear to rise from the surface.
He describes his creative process as a place of escape — “In my artworks, I take a vacation." Through bold colors, playful depth, and dynamic imagery drawn from modern life, his works achieve an energetic clarity that resonates with a global audience.
Krüger's pieces have found enthusiastic collectors from Hong Kong to Miami and Paris, attracted by the way his pigment-ink and acrylic creations transform everyday moments into immersive visual experiences. His ongoing series, including the acclaimed “POP!", continues to push the boundaries of layered paper art and define his evolving artistic voice.
