The Statue of Liberty stands, instantly recognizable, draped in its patinated copper robe with verdigris hues. Yet, something immediately disturbs the eye.
She brandished neither a flame, nor did she turn her gaze towards the horizon.
Her two hands covered her face.
The precisely sculpted fingers press against her eyes as if in a gesture of shock, shame, or despair. The seven-rayed crown remains proudly erect around her head, but her body's attitude has changed: her posture suddenly appears fragile, almost human. The drapery falls heavily, accentuating the symbolic weight of the scene.
The plain background, in a muted and silent green, isolates the figure and reinforces the intensity of the gesture. There is no sky, no horizon, no city — only her, facing herself.
This image appropriates a universal monument of freedom to make it an icon of disillusionment or anxiety.
As if Liberty itself could no longer bear the spectacle of the world.

Collector’s Guide
An emerging and singular artist, Louis Dourand has quickly established himself as one of the most distinctive voices on the new contemporary art scene. With an immediately recognizable style, blending street art, pop art, and an incisive reflection on global visual culture, he develops a direct, impactful, and resolutely current language.
His work does not simply quote contemporary aesthetics — he analyzes, fragments, and reconstructs them. Dourand reinterprets the icons and symbols of mass culture, transforming them into visual devices that question notions of value, desire, and identity in the age of the image.
References to prestigious brands such as Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Lego, Porsche, Cartier, or Pokémon sometimes appear in his works—not as mere decorative allusions, but as archetypes of globalized visual culture. These symbols are reworked through a critical and evocative lens, generating a dialogue between consumerism, collective memory, and the contemporary imagination.
His aesthetic is both energetic and controlled, layered yet legible. The compositions balance immediate visual impact with conceptual depth, leaving the viewer with a lingering tension that transcends the image itself. What distinguishes Dourand is his ability to combine urban instinct with cultural awareness, creating works that speak as much to the present as to the future.
His creations appeal to an international audience and are generating increasing interest among galleries and collectors attentive to the evolution of contemporary art. Louis Dourand is establishing himself as a rising talent, capable of reinterpreting the collective imagination with a personal, bold, and coherent voice.
A practice fueled by research, which is not limited to representing the present, but aims to redefine its visual codes.
