Damien Mauro  

A passionate self-taught artist, Damien Mauro is a painter from Avignon whose work explores abstraction through dynamic forms and controlled gestures.

Born in Châlons-en-Champagne, his career was marked by a deep commitment to the social world, before his passion for art took over. A former social worker, he has nourished his artistic practice with his human experiences, which he transposes into his works that are both sensory and intellectual.

For several years, Damien Mauro has devoted himself entirely to painting, particularly abstraction. His work explores human and social relationships through fluid forms, curves, and ruptures that seek to create a direct and immediate connection with the viewer. Passionate about architecture, nature, and graphic arts, he fuses these influences in a dreamlike universe where geometric shapes and textures offer both serenity and reflection.

His artistic approach is rigorous, combining mastery of mixed media with a freedom of expression manifested in the interplay of gentleness and strength in his compositions. Damien Mauro works with textures, materials, and color contrasts, creating works where each brushstroke, each impulse, appears spontaneous, but is in reality carefully orchestrated. This approach aims to engage the viewer and invite them to an active, almost meditative, contemplation of the work.
