Blueprint of Becoming
Limited Edition of 20 Signed & Numbered
ARTIST STATEMENT
Every meaningful life begins long before its achievements become visible.
Blueprint of Becoming explores the quiet relationship between intention, identity, and growth. Inspired by the timeless language of architecture, the work reflects the belief that just as every enduring structure begins with a carefully considered blueprint, every meaningful life is shaped through vision, patience, and purposeful decisions.
Rather than illustrating architecture as buildings alone, the composition uses architectural space as a metaphor for human development. Clean geometric forms suggest clarity of thought and direction, while the open composition invites contemplation rather than conclusion.
The work is further enriched through the integration of two historic Yoruba textile traditions: Yoruba Aso Oke, represented through the structured blue woven elements, and Yoruba Adire, expressed in the warm beige indigo-inspired patterned surface. Traditionally, Aso Oke represents craftsmanship, prestige, and celebration, while Adire carries generations of storytelling through resist-dye techniques and symbolic pattern. Here, these textile languages are reinterpreted within a contemporary architectural framework, connecting cultural heritage with modern design.
The restrained palette also carries symbolic meaning.
Architectural White represents clarity, possibility, and new beginnings.
Deep Navy reflects wisdom, confidence, and purpose.
Copper symbolizes craftsmanship—the quiet beauty of a life intentionally built over time.
Together these elements suggest that purpose is not something accidentally discovered, but something patiently constructed, layer by layer.
Rather than presenting answers, Blueprint of Becoming invites viewers to reflect on their own foundations, reminding us that every meaningful journey begins with an unseen design.
WHY COLLECT THIS ARTWORK?
Blueprint of Becoming is more than a contemporary architectural composition; it is a meditation on becoming.
By combining minimalist architecture with the visual language of Yoruba Aso Oke and Adire textiles, the work bridges African cultural heritage and contemporary international design. Its symbolism unfolds gradually, rewarding repeated viewing and inviting personal interpretation rather than offering a fixed narrative.
Produced as a strictly limited edition of only 20 signed and numbered prints, each work represents an exclusive opportunity to collect a piece from the emerging Purpose Series—a body of work exploring identity, intention, and the architecture of human meaning.
For collectors of contemporary African art, geometric abstraction, and concept-driven minimalism, Blueprint of Becoming offers a distinctive balance of cultural depth, refined design, and timeless philosophy.
Lanre Studio
"Where geometry becomes emotion, colour becomes language, and every pattern tells a story."
Lanre Adefioye is a contemporary Nigerian-Canadian artist whose work explores the intersection of culture, memory, and modern life through a distinctive style he defines as Afro Pop Cubism, a fusion of abstract cubism, pop art, and African visual heritage.
His practice transforms everyday moments into vibrant visual narratives, where ancestral patterns meet bold colour and geometric form. Drawing inspiration from traditional African motifs and symbolism, Lanre reinterprets them through a contemporary lens, creating works that are both culturally rooted and forward-looking.
Through layered compositions and dynamic structures, his art invites viewers into a space of introspection, emotional connection, and joyful reflection. Each piece becomes a visual dialogue, bridging past and present, tradition and innovation, simplicity and depth.
Lanre’s work celebrates identity, rhythm, and storytelling, offering a modern expression of African heritage that resonates across cultures and generations.
He works primarily with acrylic on canvas and wood, as well as three-dimensional wooden sculpture, while also creating digital works that extend his visual language across contemporary formats. His multidisciplinary background in industrial design and graphic design contributes to the strong sense of rhythm, balance, and visual clarity present throughout his practice.
His artistic journey began as a teenager following a transformative studio visit with the late artist David H. Dale, an experience that solidified his commitment to art and shaped his creative direction. Over the years, his work has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs, and for more than a decade he has focused on online distribution, allowing his work to reach a global audience directly.
Lanre's work has been widely collected internationally. Highlights include over 4,800 artworks sold through his Lanre Studio Etsy platform and more than 700 customer reviews, licensing partnerships with major retailers including Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Michaels, Fabrix Lancaster, and Let's Sew, and a feature in CNN Underscore’s, His artwork was also selected for the 2012 ICRW Champions for Change Awards Gala publications.
Lanre's mission is to create art that uplifts, work that serves as a continual source of positivity, reflection, and connection for those who encounter it.
