Description
This etching plays on marked contrasts to suggest movement. A dark and dense band crosses the composition. It evokes a collective silhouette, a mass of human beings in progression. The line is nervous. The material accumulates to create a tactile relief.
The sky asserts itself with a deep and saturated blue. This cool color opposes the ochre earth that anchors the scene. The visual balance rests on this tension between the heaviness of the ground and the clarity of the horizon.
The work of the engraver is revealed in the precision of the hatching and the richness of the textures. The artist alternates between spontaneity and technical rigor. The result is a suggestive image where the landscape becomes the reflection of a social emotion.
This print, made in 2023, belongs to a limited series of eleven copies. It testifies to a research into depth and density. The textured paper accentuates the organic rendering of the ink.
