Description
The print unfolds in a deep, saturated blue. The composition evokes a nocturnal urban landscape or a collective silhouette in motion. The line, nervous and precise, creates a graphic density in the center of the image.
The work on the material brings a tactile dimension to the scene. The artist plays with the contrasts between areas of shadow and flashes of white light. A few red touches punctuate the composition, bringing a subtle visual rhythm.
The execution testifies to a rigorous technical mastery, acquired during a long journey in etching. The spontaneity of the gesture meets here the precision of the drypoint. The result is an atmospheric vision where forms merge into the darkness.
This work, created in 2023, explores the boundary between abstraction and figuration. The eye circulates between the depth of the background and the relief of the textures. The whole stabilizes on white-grained paper, framing a nocturnal scene.
Presentation
Jacob Diboum is a self-taught painter and sculptor. His freedom of exploration allows him to experiment with different techniques and navigate between styles. To deepen his know-how, he took six years of courses in engraving and three in painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Troyes. His work combines spontaneity and mastery, playing on textures and contrasts to give his works a unique depth.
