Description
A graphic composition plays with geometry and memory. Color blocks intersect to structure the space. Deep blue meets a tender pink and an earthy brown circle.
The gaze falls on anonymous silhouettes. Two figures stand, while another seems to float in a suspended leap. These black shapes, drawn in ink, emerge from old photographic memories.
The work relies on a sharp contrast between the rigor of the forms and the lightness of a summer moment. The artist transforms fragments of forgotten life into a contemporary scene. Serenity settles in this stylized landscape where time seems still.
This 2024 screenprint explores the theme of the everyday with precision. The visual rendering favors the clarity of lines and the purity of the hues. The whole composes a poetic vision of relaxation by the water.
Presentation
Valérie Betoulaud, graduated in visual communication of applied arts, began her career as artistic director in communication, then worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator for the press, design agencies as well as style offices in decoration. In recent years, she has been showing her work in contemporary art fairs and several galleries.
"From forgotten photos, witnesses of anonymous lives, I let myself be guided by these fragments of memory, moments of happiness shared by the water, under the summer sun, and try to find reflections of life there. . I redraw in Indian ink, the shadow and the light and add color to these black and white images, blurry, erased by time. Stories are told, families come together, thus these portraits are born. "
