California Dreaming, 2026

Sometimes, it is enough of a silhouette to go elsewhere. Snoopy, sitting on the roof of a Volkswagen Combi facing the palm trees, transforms a road icon into a promise of escape here. With California Dreaming, SKE brings together two immediately recognizable symbols: the tender and carefree poetry of the Peanuts universe, and the mythical Volkswagen van, associated with impromptu departures, long roads, beaches, and a whole imagination of freedom. The tropical setting, the turquoise blues, and the orange touches extend this sensation of sun and travel. The composition, however, does not seek the perfect postcard. Visible lines, splashes, graphic fragments, drips, and deliberately unfinished areas give the whole a more contemporary energy. The vehicle becomes almost a pictorial material, while Snoopy brings that quirky calm that immediately shifts the image towards nostalgia. SKE thus uses popular references that several generations already know, then displaces them in its own language, between pop art, street culture, and collective memory. California Dreaming speaks to the Snoopy fan, the lover of vintage Combis, the traveler, and the collector who likes works capable of telling a story without needing to do too much. A piece that not only makes you want to look at a wall: it makes you want to take the road.
