Description
This work was born from a dialogue between two artists and two friends, Albin de la Simone and Vincent Delerm, whose worlds have intersected for many years, on stage as well as in their artistic projects.
In the upper part, a black and white photograph taken by Vincent Delerm captures Albin de la Simone in a studio, sitting amidst keyboards, instruments, cables, and equipment. The image shows less the singer on stage than the artist in his space of creation: alone, almost lost in the setting, at a moment of work and intimacy.
From this photograph of which he is himself the subject, Albin de la Simone creates the drawing that accompanies it. He does not seek to faithfully reproduce the image. He retains a few signs: the large vertical lines of the wall, the sofa, the floor, some objects, and that white silhouette which becomes almost an absence in the center of the composition. Some touches of color come to break the sobriety of black, gray, and white.
The photograph thus becomes the starting point for a second work, freer and more internal. Vincent Delerm looks at Albin de la Simone; Albin de la Simone then reinterprets the gaze that his friend has cast upon him.
Between photograph and drawing, reality and memory, this work by four hands tells with great delicacy a place, a moment of creation, and an artistic complicity.
