Description
“Polling Projectile" (October 2024) is a striking and evocative portrayal of the intense polarization gripping the United States—and the world beyond. With the central theme of division and uncertainty, Carr uses surreal and cubist techniques to deconstruct the current socio-political landscape, immersing viewers in a fractured, symbolic representation of America's most pressing issues.
At the painting's heart, a large, fragmented American flag star dominates the center. It is cracked and distorted, symbolizing the fading unity and deep ideological split between Republicans and Democrats. Behind it, the iconic torch of the Statue of Liberty looms, its flame flickering weakly. The torch, once a beacon of hope and freedom, now seems isolated, a mere symbol caught in the storm of confusion, chaos, and fake news.
In the lower-left corner, a gleaming bullet lies ominously, representing the ever-present issue of gun violence. The bullet's cold, metallic sheen contrasts with the surrounding hues of red, white, and blue, enhancing the tension between violence and the ideals of freedom that the flag's colors once represented.
Pieces of the Democratic Party's donkey are scattered throughout the canvas—its legs, tail, and ears fragmented, like discarded puzzle pieces. The disjointed parts float in a disarrayed fashion, highlighting the internal struggles within the party and symbolizing the incomplete and disjointed political discourse in America.
The entire painting is rendered in varying shades of white, red, and blue, but rather than harmonizing, the colors are twisted into sharp, jagged shapes, creating a visual representation of discord and division. Thin surreal lines stretch across the canvas like veins, interconnecting the fragmented elements. These lines, flowing like cracks, signify a broken society—one where the fractures run deep, touching every aspect of life, from politics to social issues, spreading like a web of uncertainty across the nation.

Presentation
Born in a small town in northeastern Spain, Alex Carr discovered his passion for art at an early age, using vibrant colors and bold forms to express himself. Facing severe hip dysplasia from birth, which limited his mobility, he found solace in creativity, turning to art as both an escape and a means of communication.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, Alex lived in New York City, where he exhibited his work and developed Geocubism, an innovative style that merges cubist fragmentation with surrealism, incorporating geometric and circular forms to explore psychological, emotional, and societal themes. His art invites viewers to navigate the subconscious, blending structure with fluidity to reflect the complexity of human experience.
Now, back in his hometown, Alex continues to push the boundaries of Geocubist Surrealism, using his work to challenge perception and provoke thought. His journey—from overcoming physical limitations to exhibiting internationally—embodies the transformative power of resilience and creativity. Through his art, he encourages viewers to explore the depth and intricacies of the human mind and the world around them.
