Description
Presentation
Louis Mendrisse is the son of Jean Mosnier, painter and sculptor. Born in Clermand Ferrand in 1955, he began painting at a young age, by inspiring from his father. He exhibited his first works in his Montmartre workshop in 1977, and hasn't left Paris since then.
As the years went by, the artist developed his creative process, in a jiffy. To begin with, he lays down the foundation of his work in acrylic, fills the empty part and then structures his work. Then comes the meticulous oil painting, which depicts skinny faces, expressions and other details. Eventually, the outcome comes along. One is confronted with mysterious, dreamlike works, it might be a colored or a white background. Red is recurrent: sometimes it's just a mere hint, but at times it floods the painting. His theme often revolves around women but the artist never tells the same story. Sometimes, the woman hesitates, other times she's pensive or provocative.
He followed the footsteps of his father, Louis Mendrisse is also acknowledged and exhibited by European galleries. He mainly exhibited in Luxembourg, France and Netherlands. His talents also won over USA.
