Thomas von Wittich followed the French street artist Kraken on one of his nocturnal peregrinations. He told us about their meeting and the context of this photograph:
"It was spring 2019.
Kraken was one of the first artists to catch my attention in Paris. I remember that one day I was walking with Pixacao, an artist from São Paulo who was visiting Paris and with whom we wanted to spot rooftops and access possibilities. We notice that all the places we inspect are already painted by Kraken. I contacted him, and met very quickly. We found that we shared a lot of passions, including good whiskey. So we planned to meet another day to open a bottle together. We were walking outside and he showed me the place by the canal he wanted to paint. It was still early evening, so we decided to grab some paint and go back. So it was half spontaneous - we had decided before I brought my camera just just in case, but it wasn't really o organized. The guy on the bicycle was a passerby who stayed there for over 15 minutes. My job was easy - I was sitting across the canal with the bottle of whiskey."

In the lower left corner at next to the handwritten numbering, you will find our "SAPP" logo with a dry stamp like the background traditionally used by art publishing houses. It is also a guarantee of the quality of the paper we use: the BFK Rives 300gr. the lower right corner you will find the signature of the artist affixed using an ink pad designed especially for this purpose.Finally each of our prints is accompanied by a certificate corresponding to the same edition number and which is signed of the hand of the artist To avoid any falsification the certificate also receives our stamp which is affixed on a glossy sticker in the thickness of the document.

Imagine it at home
Thomas von Wittich was born in 1983 and comes from an upper middle class family in West Germany. When he was only 13, he left home and started working in the meat packing industry and as a cook on a ship in order to support himself.
His first camera was an old Leica-collector: a Leica R4.
An outstanding portrayal of a mediocre group caught the eye of American pop photographer Jeffrey Delannoy, who quickly hired him as an assistant. From that point on, Thomas spent countless nights in the darkroom learning and perfecting his art. Under the supervision of Delannoy, he studied the classic black and white photography of Parisian street photographers from the 1940s to the 1960s.
He is currently based in Paris and his work focuses on documenting the city's urban art scene. He is best known for his Berlin Kidz Adrenaline series which documents the infamous, fearless, even crazy, Berlin graffiti team.

Can I negotiate the price of an artwork?
For some artworks, you can negotiate the price. If the price of the work is negotiable, you have a “Make an offer” button under the “Buy this work” one.
To submit your offer, you must make a payment of the desired amount. Your offer will then be forwarded to the gallery, which reserves the right to accept or reject it. If your offer is accepted, it means that your order is confirmed by the gallery and they will prepare the artwork for shipment. If your offer is rejected, you will be refunded the total amount paid automatically. The gallery can also propose a counter-offer for the acquisition of the artwork.

Where can I have my order delivered?
Artsper delivers worldwide!
However, please note that once your order reaches its destination, it may be subject to VAT or other customs fees. These charges are beyond our control and you will be responsible for paying them (this is indicated at the ‘checkout’ first step).
Select the delivery address of your choice. Please make sure that someone is present to receive your order.
If your billing address is different to your delivery address you can specify this at the checkout.
Return and cancellation
You can return the artwork without needing to provide a reason or pay a penalty fee up to 14 days after receiving your order.
In the case that the right of withdrawal is exercised in the aforementioned time frame, the price of the artwork(s) purchased and the shipping costs will be reimbursed by us as soon as the gallery has received the artwork and notified us.
Artsper will manage the return of the work and will bear the cost of returns (which will either be paid by you and refunded by Artsper or directly paid by Artsper).
The artwork must be returned in perfect condition and in its original packaging (or equivalent).
