Description
Presentation
Gregorio Vardanega (1923 - 2007) is from Passagno in Veneto. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires, where he met Tomas Maldonado through whom Vardanega discovered the European avant-garde and was led to evolve in the midst of supporters of concrete art, who then revolutionized Argentinian art.
In 1946 he joined the Arte Concreto Invención Association and in 1947 participated in the first Arte Nuevo exhibition organized by Arden Quin. In 1948, he went to Paris. During his stay in Europe, he visited many artists: Pevsner, Vantongerloo, Max Bill, Brancusi, Bruno Munari, Sonia Delaunay, Picabia and met Michel Seuphor. In 1949 he exhibited at the “Salon d'Amérique Latine" and in 1950 at the Colette Allendy gallery with the “Madistes".
Back in Buenos Aires, he got involved in the promotion of geometric abstarction. In 1958 he won the gold medal at the International Exhibition in Brussels. In 1959 Vardanega settled permanently in Paris. He quickly became part of the galeire Denise rené who devoted a personal exhibition to him in 1969. His interest in electricity was asserted and he produced major works very early on - Sonic Colors, 1963/66 - Electronic Relief, 1964 .
His first personal exhibition took place in Paris in 1964, the success of which gave him an important place in the world of kinetic art. He participates in the biggest exhibitions of this current, in France and abroad, even today ...
