Bronze Torso, Circa 2018

Limited edition of 12. This cast is numbered 3. Bronze (Corinth). Signature engraved at the base. This tiny solid bronze male nude torso - fits easily in the palm of one's hand - was first modeled carefully in clay, and later cast and finished in jewelers' wax. Once the more delicate forms have been found and the surface resolved, the piece was gently covered with graphite powder, and wrapped with red sand inside a casting flask. After the casting was done and the bronze was allowed to cool down and released from the sand, a long process of metalwork and chasing began. First the freshly cast figurine was cleaned from the sand, then next all the flashings and sprues were removed, working with pneumatic and electric tools, starting from industrial die and angle grinders and finishing the finest details with dental motors and small repousse chisels. The sculpture was then allowed to rest for a period of time inside a mixture of water from the Dead Sea and various chemicals. Last it was heated with a gas troche until the final colors appeared on its surface. It was then given a generous layer of wax and varnish.
