Description
The work presented above is a striking sculpture that combines industrial robustness and artistic creativity. Crafted from carefully assembled recycled metal pipes, this piece evokes a firearm with surprising sophistication. Each pipe, bearing varied textures and patinas due to rust and aging of the metal, gives the work a historical and material depth. The arrangement of the pipes, aligned with geometric precision, creates a visual harmony and highlights the technical dexterity of the artist. The thin and discreet support lifts the sculpture, detaching it from the light wooden base, which gives an impression of lightness to this seemingly massive assembly. The two rings in the center recall the characteristic trigger of a revolver, reinforcing the illusion of a weapon, but diverted from its violent context to become a contemplative art object. This work questions the transmutation of utilitarian objects into artistic artifacts, proposing a reflection on violence, obsolescence and reinvention. A remarkable play of contrasts emerges: between the functional past of the materials and their aesthetic present, between the threatening form and the inoffensive purpose. The soft and homogeneous light used for the exhibition highlights the details of the metal surfaces, emphasizing the nuances and imperfections that tell the story of the material. In short, this sculpture is a masterful demonstration of the capacity of art to transform and redefine our perception of ordinary objects, infusing them with a new identity that is both poignant and intriguing.

Presentation

Eric de Gésincourt was born in Fougères, in his beloved Brittany. He studied at the Met workshop in Penninghen, then spent five years at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris.

The visual artist is immersed in Materials, which leads him to manipulate metal, wood, resin and paint.

He is characterized as a researcher or a laboratory technician; the workshop in which he works is responsible for his creations.

Both a chaos and a cabinet of curiosities, the workshop is indeed filled with his multiple experiences.

This touches on everyone, leading him to work on the theme of "the influence of nature" but also on more futuristic themes linked to science fiction.
