Lieven D'Haese's new sculpture Two Legs shines with humor, innocence, and a touch of nostalgia, bringing forth the wonder of a child's imagination. The work captures a boy perched atop a giraffe, bare-legged and beaming with pride as if he's just won a race against the wildest animals. In this playfully daring feat, D'Haese encapsulates the purity of youthful triumph—a victory that knows no bounds or limitations, where dreams turn into reality.

This sculpture radiates the essence of carefree childhood joy. The boy's expression is one of immense pride, exuding the unshakable confidence that only children possess. He doesn't just sit atop the giraffe; he "rides" it with all the victory and grandeur of a champion, as if his two small legs have conquered the vast African savanna. In this act, D'Haese beautifully evokes the human desire to transcend our own limitations, to play with the impossible, and to triumph in our own unique way.

• The figures of Lieven D'Haese sometimes look like characters playing a role in forgotten stories. He takes us on a journey, a childhood memory, an adventure into the wild nature…, with a lot of delicacy and poetry. This is the artist's genius in wandering us through a mysterious and sometimes dreamlike space, and remind us the child remains in our hearts to return to our initial dreams...

• All of the artist's figures are men or children. It is always very difficult to imagine their ages and this is the artist's genius in wandering us through a mysterious and sometimes dreamlike space time. Youth symbolizing hope, and old age illustrating wisdom, .. Lieven D'Haese plays at blurring the lines.

• Lieven Haese's works are touching, human and reveal a very positive message to those who know how to look at them. They are unique in their genre, the artist's signature is very unique.

• Lieven D'Haese personally feels responsible for the completion of his sculptures. The artist isn't fond of "production after original design", but designs and creates at the same time. The artist provides the caster with a finished life-size wax model that is immediately cast in bronze. This cast is then finished by Lieven D'Haese himself. As a result, each eaditon of Lieven D'Haese is a unique piece as they have all been completed in a different way, in the artist's personal way. They have been made with great craftsmanship.
