Description
A quiet presence, a gentle soul, and a little invitation to slow down.
With , Sylvie Gaudissart captures the peaceful charm of one of nature’s most fascinating creatures. Resting close to the ground, this beautifully sculpted hippopotamus seems to have surrendered to the simple pleasure of being — unhurried, serene, and wonderfully at ease.
Its elongated form, expressive eyes, and richly textured bronze surface bring an unexpected tenderness to an animal often associated with strength and power. Here, the artist reveals another side: a creature of softness, contemplation, and quiet humour.
There is something irresistibly touching about this sculpture. Its presence feels almost like a companion, inviting us to pause, breathe, and rediscover the beauty of life’s simplest moments.
The subtle variations of the bronze, the delicacy of its modelling, and the warmth of its character make a truly charming work of contemporary sculpture.
For a collector, it is more than an animal sculpture. It is a small, poetic presence that brings warmth, personality, and a gentle sense of wonder into a space — an artwork to live with, smile at, and cherish for years to come.

Presentation
Innocence of Childhood,
"Sculpting allows me to feel closer to the world aroundme; it is an ode to life; the earth that I sculpt, the animalsI integrate into my work, and the innocence of childhood, all encourage gentleness and poetry..."
• Sylvie Gaudissart has a talent that is both very cheerful and very original. Her magnificent sculptures are verysingular, truly special and bear a recognizable personality, an already recognized style. Creating and enjoyinglife... translates into amusing, non-frozen scenes of everyday life that seem to move.
• Having grown up on the edge of the forest, Sylvie Gaudissart began by making squirrels and rabbits, and now she is making wild animals like hippopotamuses that seem to swim in front of us with, sometimes, a bird perched on their back. There is movement and life in her works that directly touches our inner child.
• Now the artist is also trying to enlarge the scope and the size of her sculptures and include lovely children who play and grow up together with the baby animals; a little boy with a little puppy or a little girl with five 80-centimeter ducklings will do wonders in a garden.
