Description
This ceramic work depicts a figurine with a round, innocent face, capturing a moment of serene reflection. The slightly upward-facing eyes convey a sense of curious contemplation, while the half-open mouth adds a touch of childlike surprise. The meticulously sculpted brown hair frames the face. The green and earthy-toned clothing, with delicately modeled folds, exudes an organic fluidity. The smooth texture and subtle nuances of the glaze demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship. This contrast between the simplicity of the design and the emotional depth makes this sculpture both captivating and accessible. It is a perfect example of the fusion of tradition and modernity, illustrating a mastered technique while moving with its apparent naiveté.
Presentation
In the silence of my studio, far from the noise of the world, I shape my little clay figurines with the desire to preserve a naive and narrative universe in their texture and finish, very human and far from a smooth and modern aesthetic.
I seek a form of childlike sensitivity tinged with seriousness in their faces, their postures and their gazes.
The pieces I model are most often coloured with patina, engobe or oxides. However, I prefer high-temperature glazes (1260 °C) because they give the final piece a very special softness.
