Description
This striking sculpture depicts a human figure carrying another on its shoulders, showcasing a remarkable interplay of balance and unity. The elongated forms are rendered in a textured finish that enhances the earthy hues, suggesting resilience and interconnectedness. The simplicity of the figures invokes a primitive, almost ethereal quality, inviting viewers to contemplate themes of support and solidarity. Mounted on a robust, minimalist base, the sculpture gains an imposing presence, drawing attention to its intricate surface detailing. Through its minimalist yet profound composition, the artwork challenges conventional depictions of human relationships, focusing on the intrinsic strength and grace in unity. The statuesque posture and elongated limbs add a sense of elegance and fluidity, making it a captivating centerpiece.
Presentation
Capturing the power of life within an object requires more than imitation of nature.
This conviction lies at the core of Dagmar Vogt’s sculptural and artistic practice.
Dagmar Vogt received her artistic training at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences, studying under Prof. Kampmann and Prof. Schubert, and completed academic training in painting with Prof. Markus Lüpertz as well as Mathias Lanfer, a master student of Tony Cragg. She also holds state examinations in art and history.
Her work focuses on human presence, inner tension and structural clarity, expressed through a reduced, powerful formal language. Working across sculpture and painting, Vogt seeks to condense vitality and emotional intensity into tangible form rather than reproducing natural appearances.
She is a member of the Malkasten Düsseldorf art association, has held teaching positions at art academies and adult education institutions, and since 2021 has served as a jury member for the Ennepe-Ruhr Art Prize.
Dagmar Vogt lives and works in Herdecke and the Allgäu region.
