Thalia Dalecky   New & remarkable Artists

This artwork presents an unusual three-dimensional chessboard, where the reduced number of pieces appears suspended in an unfinished game. The board, composed of black and white squares, evokes a tension between balance and conflict. The use of light accentuates the contrasts, highlighting the subtle nuances of the materials. The artist plays with perspective, creating an illusion of depth that immediately captures the viewer's attention. Each sculpted piece is meticulously detailed, demonstrating exceptional technical mastery. This chess set, far more than a simple pastime, becomes a metaphor for duality and inner reflection. A tribute to the complexity of the game and the beauty of strategy.

It can be displayed vertically like a painting, or flat like a timeless chessboard. Handcrafted wooden frame.

Here is the poem by the artist that accompanies this creation:

"At night, anything goes."

During the night, a white madman escaped.
along the side of the checkerboard
in the territory of the blacks.
The queen is madly in love with him.
But the madman has been in love for days.
from her beautiful beloved tower
The Black King at their side
now rid
of his queen whom he never loved
hope was finally reborn
to reconnect with his beloved tower.
These lovers, who had been separated until then
by the fool and the knight.
But these during the night
have disappeared from this checkerboard.
Another long-awaited romance
yet it went unnoticed.
On the white side
The only two valiant pawns
They are discovering each other timidly.
While not far from there the handsome King
courted by two knights,
does justice to the number three.
Thus, in this story of one night,
With newfound freedom,
And love exposed to the light of day,
The madmen crossed the checkerboard
of their diagonal escape.
Both, piqued by curiosity,
wanted to get closer
queens from the opposing camp,
who didn't wait long
to embrace them at point-blank range...
We know the rules
of this board game.
But tonight, they changed:
Love, passion, and freedom
They won.
As if to whisper to us
The secret to a happy life
It is about not admitting defeat.
when things don't go as planned.
But rather to give up
To uncontrolled risks.
Like this transformed game
In a story left to chance
yet no less relieved
of poetry and a certain beauty.
