Description
This captivating sculpture depicts a female bust, crafted from interwoven metal wires, creating a structure that is both robust and ethereal. The illusion of movement is accentuated by the sinuous and dynamic contours of the metal, lending the work an appearance that is simultaneously static and vibrant. The intricate weaving of the wires forms a complex network that plays with light, casting delicate, shifting shadows. This unique technique gives the impression of a three-dimensional drawing, striking in its visual lightness. The sculpture rests on a simple base, highlighting the complexity of the main structure. This contrast between the solid base and the evanescent appearance of the bust underscores the artist's mastery and exploration of the interplay between void and matter.
Presentation
Nicolas Desbons was born in 1966, he is an art locksmith and sculptor.
After studing Industrial Design in San Francisco, Nicolas Desbons returned to France where he decided to open his own studio to work with steel. He currently lives and works near Paris.
His work is mainly based on locksmithery (cold working of metal, assembly by welding or screwing) he regularly practices, as well, ironworking (working in the forge, when his creations require it).
Combining different traditional techniques, Nicolas Desbons however seeks to innovate and diverts the codes to create new aesthetic appearances. In order to enrich his pieces, he does not hesitate to combine materials and introduce for example fiberglass, glass, or ceramics and metal.
The artist who calls himself a metal designer works mostly on command.
