At a noticeably early age Pastor Villanueva had already established himself as an important figure among the sculptors of his native city, La Paz, where he received a degree in Fine Arts from the Major University of Saint Andrew in 2012. Prior to his graduation the outstanding nature of his work had already merited awards. However, it was shortly after his graduation that he received important national recognitions such as the Eduardo Abaroa Award, and the Grand Price of the School of Fine Arts Salon, both in 2016.
While he favors stone, following the tradition of most Bolivian sculptors, he has also used wood for his sculptures. The themes of his pieces are varied, including monumental sculptures commissioned by governmental institutions. His renditions in stone of animals, local wildlife, and abstractions, have received acclaim from critics and collectors alike.
