Description
The wood unfolds into organic forms inspired by the plant world, like leaves or fronds captured in motion. The lines and curves suggest a silent dance, evoking the intangible forces of nature—wind, water, the invisible currents that flow through living things.
The sculpture's extreme finesse, its delicate edges and almost fragile thickness, become the symbol of a vulnerable nature. It recalls the precariousness of this balance in the face of human actions and the way in which humankind shapes, transforms, and often alters the natural world. In contrast, the material of the wood asserts its power and beauty.
Bearing the memory of the tree, it reveals an organic, warm, and timeless presence. Between fragility and strength, matter and movement, Plant Dance offers a meditation on nature: at once delicate, alive, and essential.
Presentation
Agnes K. lives near Aix en Provence and carves wood in her studio bathed in Provencal light. Wood is a noble material, alive, demanding, shape shifting and in constant evolution depending on the weather conditions and the environment.
But it is above all a material that awakens the senses: sensual, warm, comforting and pleasant to the eye as well as the touch, with scents specific to each essence.
These are the aspects that she highlights in her art: sublimating the wood in itself, its colors, its touch, its distinctive elements; either starting from a piece of raw wood by allowing it to tell a story, or by sculpting or turning the wood to bring out a shape, a line.
She particularly attaches great importance to the play of lights, the contrasts, the shadows, which give emphasis and depth to her pieces.
