Description
This captivating metal sculpture presents a vivid red anthropomorphic figure, evoking raw and intense emotion. The dynamic, angular forms are accentuated by a rough, expressive texture, lending the work a palpable energy. The disproportionately large and expressive eyes contrast with the rest of the sculpture, adding an emotional and surreal dimension. The barely sketched, almost indistinct mouth reinforces the dramatic and intriguing facial expression. The oversized, stylized hands appear to be in motion, giving the whole a sense of life and dynamism. This work is a striking example of modern art where simplicity of form meets complexity of emotion. A bold and unique piece that challenges and stimulates the viewer's reflection.
Presentation
Michel Michadu is a French artist and lives in Ploëzal, he has been working there since 2005.
A well traveled, self-taught sculptor, Michel Michadu has been sculpting since ten years now, his favorite material is iron.
He explores metal naturally and in a simplistic manner, through energy of an imaginary gladiator. Michadu's sculptures are enormous, they not only question us but throw us off balance and often call on to the burlesque side of life. His works are unknowingly in the wake of Breughel, Dubuffet and Rebeyrolles, with a hint of "laughter" and "vividness", worthy of Rabelais.
