Description
A dark bronze figure rests in a state of deep meditation. The posture is symmetrical. Arms extend outward. Fingers form precise mudras. This sculpture captures a moment of profound stillness.
A striking contrast defines the composition. Golden fractures split the torso and base. These luminous veins suggest a hidden inner light. They evoke the Japanese art of kintsugi. Beauty emerges from breakage. Strength is found in fragility.
The anatomy is rendered with expert precision. Taut muscles meet a serene facial expression. The gaze is lifted upward. This upward trajectory suggests spiritual transcendence. The artwork explores the duality of human existence. It balances the weight of material bronze with the lightness of enlightenment.
The gold accents act as focal points. They guide the eye through the cracks of the form. This visual rhythm creates a sense of healing. The figure does not hide its scars. Instead, it celebrates them as paths to wisdom. The piece rests on a minimal rectangular plinth. The dark patina absorbs the surrounding light. Only the golden fissures remain radiant.
Presentation
Starting with pencil and paper, Paige Bradley took her art seriously at the age of nine. Born in California in 1974, she attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and Florence, Italy. As a happily married artist, businesswoman, and mother of two, life is full and abundant.
As one of the leading figurative sculptors of our generation, Paige explores the human body as a vehicle to communicate the struggles, isolations, limitations, and ruptures of today. Her work captures the light of the spirit and the power of the body while capturing a beautiful mortality that is both fragile and ferocious. Repeatedly listed as having created some of the most intriguing and creative works of art in the world, people connect deeply with the imagery in Paige's sculptures .
Paige's studio is now located in Stamford, Connecticut. For the past twenty years, she has maintained sculpture studios in London, California, and New York City. She has worked with the same foundry since she was 17, often creating her own patinas and detail work. Paige's collectors know her as a prolific perfectionist, creating works that speak to today's sensibilities and will also be appreciated for generations to come.
