Description
This bronze sculpture captures the suspended moment of an acrobatics. The silhouette launches into a precarious balance. The body is contorted with anatomical precision. Every muscle is drawn to emphasize the effort and grace.
The composition plays on curved lines and geometric tensions. The figure rests on a single hand. The weight rests on a cube placed on a sphere. This play of forms creates a sensation of lightness and vertigo.
The bronze catches the light on the areas of tension. The artist uses contrasts of materials to rhythmically structure the visual reading. A circle surrounds the arm, adding a graphic dimension to the scene. The dark patina of the bronze emphasizes the force of the movement.
The whole rests on a light wood base. This natural support stabilizes the structure and highlights the verticality of the piece. The inverted posture defies gravity with mastered elegance. The gaze is drawn to the finesse of the point of support.
Presentation
Jérôme BARREAU has lived in the Arcachon Basin since the year 2000.
He studied at the École Boulle in Paris (higher school of applied arts for furniture trades) between 1985 and 1991.
He began his studies in plastic arts and very quickly moved towards wood sculpture.
He obtained a BT Technical Certificate, then a CAP and finally a DMA diploma in arts trades in wood sculpture.
Following his studies, he joined Parisian model and design workshops. The creation of products for advertising, design, architecture or even the cosmetic industry…
During almost 10 years, these numerous professional experiences allowed him to practice many techniques from manual trades, such as turning, milling, mechanical machining, molding, and of course sculpture with many materials…
In 2000 he leaves the Paris region for the Arcachon Basin.
It is from this moment that he begins to create his sculptures. In wood, in stone, in earth… engraving techniques too… His curiosity leads him to many horizons.
In 2001 he discovers a local association that offers painting and art history courses, he applies to animate sculpture workshops there… these courses still exist today...
He regularly animates modeling workshops on specific themes.
In parallel, he exhibits in art fairs to present and sell his work as an artist.
His profession today is to create pieces and transmit his passion for sculpture.
