Description

Explore original tropical forest oil art with this exquisite piece, ready to join your collection. In "Path to a flower farm 2" (48x34 cm / 18.9x13.4 in), the artist captures a dense wilderness teeming with organic life and shimmering light. Rendered in oil and oil pastel on archival Lanavanguard synthetic paper, this vertical artwork utilizes a rich palette of moss green, warm gold, and soft cream to build a sense of meditative stillness. The small figure walking through towering lianas and monsteras underscores the timeless grandeur of nature. This expressive botanical artwork perfectly enhances modern living rooms, offices, or creative spaces. An exceptional gift for any occasion, it adds warmth and sophisticated texture to any contemporary interior. It ships rolled in a durable tube; framing with a colored passe-partout is highly recommended to complement its deep, fluid tones.

Maija Nochevnaya, Path to a flower farm 2: Expressive Tropical Jungle Landscape
Finland  • 1982

Presentation

Maija Nochevnaya (b. 1982) is a contemporary artist born in Norilsk, former Soviet Union, and currently based in Finland. She was trained as an architect and mining engineer before immigrating to Finland in 2006, where she later studied horticulture. This rare combination of technical education and hands-on work with plants became the foundation of her artistic practice.

Maija’s work grows directly from years spent in gardening and urban landscaping. Gardens, leaves, windowsill plants, and quiet landscapes form the emotional core of her paintings. She creates nature-inspired compositions that function as “green portals”—visual spaces designed to restore inner balance in fast-paced urban life.

Her visual language is soft and immersive. Rather than building a single focal point, Maija constructs rhythmic fields of organic forms and layered textures that allow the eye to wander freely. The gaze moves through foliage, light, and surface, shifting attention away from analysis and toward sensation. These landscapes operate as gentle visual meditations, inviting viewers into states of calm and presence.

Working with mixed techniques and her own developed methods, Maija creates paintings where color becomes atmosphere and composition becomes experience. Her background in architecture informs spatial harmony, while horticulture brings an intimate understanding of natural rhythms and growth.

Maija has presented her work in Helsinki, including the series In the Garden and on the Windowsill (2022) and Marfa’s Dogs (2022). Today, she continues to explore how painting can offer moments of rest, softness, and emotional recovery.

Through contemplative landscapes and organic abstraction, Maija Nochevnaya creates contemporary works that reconnect viewers with nature—transforming everyday greenery into quiet spaces of reflection and healing.
