Biography

Andrea Tiebel-Quast was born in Bad-Saarow (near East Berlin) and grew up in Cottbus, in the state of Brandenburg. She left East Germany in 1985 and lived in Lower Saxony from 1985 to 1999. Her works have been shown in public exhibitions since 1992; she is working and living as an artist in the Biberach area (Baden-Württemberg) since 1999.

From 2009 to 2015, she studied Fine Arts at the Institut für Ausbildung in Kunst und Kunsttherapie in Bochum and attended the master classes of Andreas Christ and Thorsten Lehmann. She completed her studies with a diploma (IbKK) in Fine Arts and Graphics. During this time, she attended further training courses with Prof. Qi Yang, Düsseldorf and Prof. Dajming, Danzig.

Andrea Tiebel-Quast’s artistic focus is painting and sculpture. Here, she engages in various design techniques, such as bronze casting and large wire sculptures, which she incorporates into installations. Photography and printing techniques such as etching, monotype or woodcut complete her artistic modes of expression. She creates sculptures and installations in free art projects in public spaces. In addition to the design of stage sets in theatre productions and musicals, she works in performance projects and in the Kulturagentenprogramm Baden-Württemberg. Andrea Tiebel-Quast is supported by foundations and various cultural institutions.
