Ibrahima Barry was born on March 22, 1968 in Mamou and grew up in Labé. Very young, he helped his mother to paint the fabrics and liked to create the colors. He demonstrated his passion for drawing from the age of 8 and began painting in 1988.
In his works, I. Barry discovers and makes discover the soul of his country Guinea and African culture. In his paintings, the artist conveys the beauties of the four major regions of Guinea through different pictorial styles using different materials such as national fabric, raffia, cardboard, coconut fiber and even building materials and recycled objects. .
In 2021, I. Barry collaborates with the French writer Charlotte Serrière, who published the book "Indigo".
