Description
This second engraving from the artist's book “Mare Nostrum" continues the exploration of an imaginary world where nature and organic forms dominate. Made in etching, the work presents a composition rich in details and textures, immersing the viewer in a fantastic universe.
The upper part of the engraving is marked by circular and swirling shapes, evoking climbing plants or moving algae. These spirals bring a particular dynamic to the whole, guiding the eye through the image.
In the center, shapes reminiscent of leaves or petals stand out delicately, adding a dimension of lightness and fluidity. They seem to float in an ambiguous space, between the terrestrial and the aquatic.
The bottom of the image is densely populated with tubular structures and floral patterns. These elements, which can evoke corals or underwater plants, enrich the scene with additional complexity, inviting careful observation.
The engraving, with its play of lines and textures, creates a striking contrast between the different elements. Every detail is meticulously engraved, revealing the artist's technical mastery and boundless imagination.

Presentation
Julie Ruelle is a French artist who lives between Creuse and Herault.
With a degree in philosophy and literature, she successively became an engineer, a teacher of French and later of philosophy. She enrolled in the Heddle and Tapestry Arts training in Aubusson in 2016 with the aim of becoming a weaver artist.
Julie Ruelle's work consists of paintings, tapestries, engravings and books. She tells stories of the sea and plant life. The works respond to each other and work together to give substance to a love story whose narrative thread is that of sorrow.
