Description
This striking sculpture presents a bold geometric form, invoking notions of ancient architecture with its earthy, textured surface. A rectangular block forms the primary structure, punctuated by a circular aperture and a semicircular arch cut into its lower section, creating a harmonious interplay between solid and void. The surface is meticulously crafted, with an organic, stone-like texture that suggests both strength and natural erosion. Atop the main form, a smaller rectangular slab subtly extends the verticality of the piece. The sculpture surprises with a single green leaf emerging gracefully from the top, offering a touch of life and juxtaposition against the otherwise austere structure. This integration of natural and man-made elements highlights themes of harmony and tension. The work's minimalist yet profound design encourages contemplation of balance, presence, and absence, making it a captivating focal point in any space.
Presentation
The Ceramist Eva Richard is based in the South of France and creates unique pieces and small series of works.
Mainly in stoneware and porcelain, they are entirely created in the spirit of a handmade art.
She uses molding, turning and stamping in creating her pieces.
Her work is the expression of a search for timeless, primary and Mediterranean inspired forms.
Eva Richard's approach is sculptural.
Her favorite material is clay, both supple and hard, simultaneously uncompromising and tolerant, allows her to communicate using matter ad infinitum.
Her creations are tactile, constantly in exchange and interaction with their environment. Very graphic, the aesthetics of her pieces are also imposed by their organic forms.
The play of the piece's orientations, the play of lights on the ceramics, the dialogue between inside and outside, interaction between graphic expression and mineral matter are the main threads of her work.
