Presentation

Nancy Létourneau is a graphic designer, painter and ultra marathoner from Quebec City. After studying visual arts at the Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy and the BA in Arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal, she continued her studies in graphic design. She graduated in 1999 and started her business: Studio Pixels. The following years were mainly devoted to her work as a graphic designer, which she exercised autonomously, as well as to her small family that took shape.

In May 2011, Nancy began running, a sport that quickly became her escape route. The enthusiasm for this discipline is a revelation for Nancy; she participates, among other things, in a major race event for a good cause: the Montreal-New York Challenge 2013 during which she lines up 80km! In her motivational drive, the taste of the arts resurfaces and thus she reconnects with painting, her primary passion.

It was in this wave of strides and finish lines that she embarked on the development of the “Footprint" project, a series of works inspired by running. The artist creates texture with footprints of old running shoes recovered from his running friends. Either in plaster or paint itself, these footprints represent this sport of physical power and mental strength. To each work, Nancy adds one or more silhouettes of runners, discreet presence in an abstract landscape, presence necessary to the soul of each solitary runner.
