Biography

Born in 1993, Aude Vernuccio is a French contemporary artist and journalist based in Paris. A self-taught artist, she was introduced to figurative painting in her childhood at a workshop in Trouville-sur-Mer, Normandy, before gradually developing a personal artistic language oriented towards contemporary abstraction and semi-abstract painting . The pandemic marked a turning point in her artistic practice, rekindling her desire to create and giving rise to new, deeply introspective series.

His work draws inspiration from current events, human experiences, and his many travels, particularly in Latin America . His time in Brazil and Colombia profoundly influenced his artistic sensibility and nourished his approach to color, rhythm, and memory. This traveler's perspective permeates his entire body of work, where emotions and memories become pictorial material.

Through the series Atravesar — “to cross" in Spanish — the artist offers a reflection on the mechanisms of the psyche, the feeling of confinement, and inner reconstruction in the post-pandemic era. Her compositions function like contemporary stained-glass windows, opening onto intimacy and memory. Other series, such as Rêveries and Babelles, explore the representation of femininity and the place of women in contemporary society, extending the questions raised by the Me Too movement.

Aude Vernuccio favors a practice based on gesture, movement, and the power of pure color . Her work falls within the realm of gestural abstraction , while also engaging in dialogues with abstract expressionism and certain forms of contemporary lyricism . She notably acknowledges the influence of Gerhard Richter , Jackson Pollock , Georges Mathieu , Orlan , and German Tessarolo, artists who have contributed to shaping her thinking on matter, the body, identity, and formal freedom.

The artist has participated in several group exhibitions in France and Colombia. In 2022, she exhibited at The Muisca Art in Paris, the Cali Departmental Library, and Mansion La Maria in Colombia. That same year, she took part in the 30th edition of the Art Shopping fair at the Carrousel du Louvre, solidifying her presence within the emerging French contemporary art scene.

Through her sensitive approach to intimacy, femininity, and memory, Aude Vernuccio develops a body of work where abstract painting , movement, and chromatic intensity become the vectors of a profoundly human reflection on our time.
