Inhabited by an urban imagination, the pictorial practice of Martin Boissard is located at the crossroads of hyperrealism and abstraction. Walls, palisades or advertising posters reveal holes, hollows, accidents, strata, like so many perspectives both suggested and obstructed. By revisiting the history of figurative painting, it is for him to update the issues of pictorial formalism – those of flatness and its double, depth.
