Biography
He was born in 1935 in Kemerovo (Russia). When he was 13 his family moved to Transcarpathia. He had no artistic education and started painting only at his 50. By this time, he worked as a builder.
His creative way he was started in 1985 – that's when he began painting. He studied special literature and mastered painting techniques and methods on his own. He chose rather rare and laborious genre of a documentary cityscape – veduta, which is originated in the 16th century in Flanders and became popular in the Netherlands and Italy.
The basis of his creativity – landscapes. The artist likes depicting landscapes of Uzhhorod, Carpathian beauty, as well as cities and castles of Western Europe on his canvases. There are many genre compositions in the style of Dutch masters among his works. For his native city, he created a series of paintings entitled "In the old Uzhhorod".
All works of the artist are full of carefully painted details of architecture and landscape elements. A rich range of warm colours, light and sun-lit sky, the atmosphere of patriarchal pacification and peace are combined with a successful composition and perspective construction. Quite often, the artist uses staffage, harmoniously adding to his landscapes individual figures and genre scenes. In his work, he mostly uses oil on canvas, cardboard.
He is an active participant in exhibitions since 1994. His first personal exhibition was held in 2000.
In 2012, the "Karpaty" publishing house in Uzhhorod released an album of the artist's paintings, recognized the best one at the book fair "Book-Fest 2013".
