Biography

Testus is the stage name of Ernest Rossell. Graduated in Pictorial Sciences at the "Llotja de Barcelona" his interest in prehistoric art makes him work with natural pigments derived from minerals and vegetables. He explores ways to represent the textures and colors of the environment. He prepares his canvas made of jute fabric or burlap and paints with natural pigments to achieve this.

He is inspired by artists such as Tàpies, Barceló, Millares, Broto, Klee, Twombly, Motherwell or Kiefer.

He develops a series of works on animals and on philosophies of esoteric knowledge (tarot, zodiac, I xing).

Currently, his work fuses the universe of textures and colors of the great masters of prehistory with techniques and concepts of contemporary art.
