Biography
Petra Cortright is an American digital artist, whose “Net-Art" work often interrogates and parodies contemporary internet culture. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City and California College of the Arts, Cortright's work garnered attention following the artist's publication of a video of herself scrolling through a variety of filters and superimposed “stickers," which she entitled VVEBCAM. Her works, often deeply conceptual in nature, are produced using digital softwares, bold colors, and a variety of themes relating to nature and the modern online experience.
Cortright's work has been showcased in exhibitions at galleries across the globe, including the Venice and Lyon Biennale, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, and the Moderna Museet in Miami, Florida.
