Description
Bluehiss is a beautiful original oil on canvas realized by the American artist Angelo Ortiz in 2006. This is a unique pop artwork painted with vivid colors and a very contemporary style. Some of Ortiz's favorite subjects are giant flowers, fish, cats, money bags and faces. In particular, this painting portrays a snake.
Angel Ortiz (New York,1967-), also known as LA2 or LA II ("Little Angel") is an American painter and graffiti artist. His art is easily recognizable, characterized by a unique mix of Chinese calligraphy inflences and pictograph-like cave paintings, using bright colors and energetic scrawl. When he was only 13 or 14, he met Keith Haring, a decisive meeting for both; in fact, they quickly became friends and collaborators, influencing each other's technique and style.
Ortiz was a great admirer of Keith Haring and the street artists, from which he took the passion and the delight with harsh, strong colors and sometimes strident color combinations, applied with a unique talent. Since the untimely death of Haring from AIDS at the age 31, Ortiz continued his successful career, despite often being overlooked within art history and Haring's legacy in particular. His artworks are exhibited at many museum and institutions, such as the Pepperdine University in Malibu, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. He still lives and works in New York.
