Description
Created circa 2010, is rooted in the legacy of New York graffiti, of which Sonic is a key representative.
The work is executed in spray paint and marker on a New York City subway map (MTA), an iconic support of American urban culture, here mounted on cardboard and fixed onto a metal panel . This choice of material anchors the piece in a street-derived aesthetic while giving it a more durable, gallery-oriented presence.
The composition combines stylized figures, tags, and graphic elements in a dense and colorful scene, evoking the raw energy of the city and the visual language of graffiti. The artist’s gesture, both spontaneous and controlled, captures the immediacy of the medium while constructing a complex and narrative image.
Signed in the lower right, the work reflects the transition of graffiti from the public space to the gallery, while preserving its visual strength and cultural roots.
