Chen Yi

Chen Yi was born in 1980 in Zhejiang, China. Chen Yi is a photographer who lives and works in Paris.

Chen Yi says about his work: "I want to present a point of departure and to arrive indescribable of the trace of time, a trace over which time has, normally, a power that we cannot represent. Although I do not see its existence, I identify his external phase: as in a movement of water, the passage of a cloud or the change in the rays of the sun.

We can, perhaps, imagine that the limit between time and space is magnified by the fluctuation of the dynamics, like a permanent repression, maybe a new form of birth. The rays of the sun shine on the dark mountain, reviving the surrounding life. People seem to be reduced by this passage of time. One day, perhaps, in the face of time, our existence will be equivalent to that of this tree or this pebble in the creek."
