Biography
Born in 1943, he graduated from the San Alejandro Fine Arts University in Havana, Nelson Garcia Jimenez is a Cuban painter.
At the beginning of his career, Nelson rubbed shoulders with the artistic world in the Cuban capital and met many great artists like Manuel Mendive. These Cuban artists influenced him a lot and still remain a great source of inspiration. In his paintings, Nelson welcomes the spectator in the Cuban culture and shows him what it means to be Cuban. He promotes everyday moments in his universal paintings to reach a wide audience.
There are three periods in his career: the urban countryside, religion and sea and the Cuban culture, each one is treated in with a unique style and technique.
After more than 50 years of career, his paintings still remain a reflection of the Cuban evolution, one of the reasons why he is displayed at several international galleries during individual and collective exhibitions.
