Christian Bilger is an artist from Mulhouse working with digital media. He uses a virtual canvas to build his universe. He builds and deconstructs his paintings. Bilger wants the viewers to get lost in his works, their eyes to seek constantly for details. For him, no detail should be frozen. Some of his creations mix the traditional work of the painter with a digital process, while others are the reflection of a new pictorial era.
The first stage of his work is painting on paper before reworking the result on the computer, printing it on a dibond support and couating the piece with several layers of glossy varnish.
Painters have always used the materials of their time. People have used the supports that were available to them and the materials that they found in nature to make their colors. "Digital media belong to our time," says the artist. "If I chose digital media, that is because it allows a form of infinity in the creative experience."
