Biography
Born in Nairobi with early education in New Zealand and Japan where I received my first art lessons.
Later studied at the West Surrey College of Art and Design, then Culham College, Oxford.
I taught art and design for a number of years before becoming a full time painter, dividing my time between Brecon in Wales and a small town in the south west of France.
Artist Statement:
I use water colour and acrylic to convey the movement of light, the intensity of colour and the stark contrast of tone that I find in the Brecon Beacons. It is here where I feel most inspired due to the constant changes of light and form across the hills. I paint onto a textured base made from tissue paper or handmade papers and then use multiple layers of transparent paint in order to create the impression of variations of atmosphere.
