IZa Zaro

France Born in: 1965
Iza Zaro is a French artist born in 1965 who lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale Superior des Arts Appliqués et Métiers d'Arts(ENSAAMA) in 1987 from the textile design and serigraphy section and then obtained a degree from the School of Graphic Art Corvisart in Paris in 1985 from the letters/typography/advertisings section.

She was introduced to the technique called Batik from Africa during an artistic exchange in Saint Louis, Senegal in 2003 before doing an apprenticeship at the Duperré School of Applied Arts where she specialized in the technique of engraving images on wood and etching.

She works extensively with stencil and engraving on wood and is very interested in the subject of female representation, with a reinvindicating and feminist approach. In fact, after several trips around the work to Morocco, Martinique, Poland, Israel and West Bank, her thoughs about the condition of woman in q world dominated by man, the pression of the street and its extreme behaviors push her to claim simple rights.

Feminist philosophers such as elizabeth Badinter or Simone de Beauvoir and the presence of artists in connection with limits such as Epsylonpoint led her to understand that man by the projection of his fantasies broke woman in a period mostly dominated by dogmas .

In parallel, she joined the world of street art besides artists such as Jérôme Mesnager, Jef Aerosol, Mosko and associates, Helek and Banga but it was specially her encounter with artist Gregos Art that encouraged her to start working on the walls of Paris, and she joined the group Mix'Art (Art in all Freedom) in 2001.

Iza Zaro has exhibited her work in Paris, Montréal, Tel Aviv, Bakou, Berlin, London, leaving her mark on their walls and in Morroco where she works regularly.
