Maude Roudier

Maude Rondier is a young photographer born in Lyon. She surprises us with a rich portfolio where she mixes a social and a humanistic approach.

Her series "City of Steel" invites us to take a second look at these abandoned factories that we sometimes pass by, without paying attention. Maude speaks about the closure of mines, the French steel industry, the relocation of the refining. She puts a new face to this piles of scrap lying in the middle of nature as witnesses of a glorious past which is still recent. The artist brings back, thanks to the poetic impact of her photographs, all the history and behind the history of symbols of a rushed and blinded world. After the union struggle and the social plans, the responsibles are gone overnight leaving this technological jewel out of breath, agonizing, emptying these toxic asbestos residues, heavy metals solvent tars poisoning the environment, amidst general indifference.

In 2015, Maude Rondier received the price of the public "Paris Match du photoreportage étudiant" for this series.
