Biography

Fred Creusot is a
French painter who lives and works in a little village in the Sierra of
Salamanca (Spain), close to the Portuguese border.  Drawing cartoons since childhood, he goes on
to study at the Épinal School of Art and later at the Faculty of Visual Arts in Strasbourg. He is both a graduate and qualified teacher in Fine
Arts, although not practicing for the last 25 years, since he decided to follow
his wife to her native village.

His Garabachos, a series of paintings which
he began in 2011, start off as very small drawings, often made unconsciously whilst
on the 'phone or in a meeting, which he reproduces on a large scale, maintaining
the dynamic and the spontaneity of the original lines. The colour, always keeping
in line with the graphics, enhances but also sometimes brings sense to certain
abstract parts of the painting.

“Life is
a big farce, why should art be serious?" – Fred Creusot
