Mateo Andrea

France Born in: 1983

Mateo Andrea was born in 1983 in Buenos Aires a few days before the end of the dictatorship, to a Dutch father and a native mother. He spent his childhood there and made many trips to Paris with his parents, where they settled in 1989.

He did his primary and secondary studies in his adopted city.

As a teenager, he made graffiti in the streets, his mother invited him to do them on canvas. He thus initiated his work in the workshop. Common works will emerge and will subsequently be shown in different art centers.

He opted for art studies and prepared for it in the workshops of La Glacière. He then joined the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris - ENSBA - in 2003 in the studio directed by Jean Michel Alberola.

At the ENSBA, he developed a technique that he continued to use, mounting his paintings from the start to conclude a hybrid work that mixes drawing and painting on canvas.

In 2008, he had his first solo exhibition in the Parisian gallery Popy Arvani, shortly before obtaining his diploma after 5 years of studies.

His work has been shown in different galleries and institutions in different cities and countries:

In France (Paris, Issy Les Moulineaux, Bourg la Reine, Saint Arnoult en Yvelines, Perpignan), in Spain (Barcelona), in Argentina (Buenos Aires), in Greece (Athens), in the Netherlands (The Hague), in Belgium (Brussels, Tournai and Mons), in Italy (Lido de Camaiore), in the Philippines (Manila) or in China (Shanghai).

Son and grandson of artists, he forms part of the “All 4 Art” collective with his father Pat Andrea, his mother Cristina Ruiz Guinazu and his sister Azul Andrea with whom he exhibits and renews the tradition of the families of Flemish artists. .
