Laurent Peybernes (Psktear)

Born in: 1985

France

Born in Montpellier in 1985, Laurent Peybernes started doing graffitti at an early age. Discovered by an animator in middle school at the age of 12, the young artists was encoraged by the latter to persevere in this field. He was given the opportunity to paint in his school and it was at that moment that he did his first fresco. From then on, he did not stop painting and advancing in his artistic evolution, in parallel to his graphic design studies.

The influence of graphic design and of the digital world is undoubtedly perceptible in his canvases painted with aerosol. They are colorful, geometric and luminous. The work of the material is very important. Thanks to the use of different materials (wood, cardboard, wool) in his pieces, the geometry takes volume creating compositions that are a combination of painting and a sculpture. He paints spontaneously. His compositions surpass sometimes the limited space of the supports he uses, in a subversive desire to overcome constraints and limits.

Recently, Psktear has been working on digital compositions where the strenght of his paintings increased tenfold by the augmented reality. Continuously pursuing his experiments on digital art, he created an immersive journey using the "Occulus Rift", which is a pair of integral glasses that allows the viewer to project himself into a virtual world. Presented during the "Digiworld" 2014 at the Palace of Congress of Montpellier or at the "Digital Week Paris 2015", this interactive project was very well received by the public. The artist's work was presented as well at the Montpellier Light Festival.
