Biografía
Nacido en Toronto en 1970, David Drebin vive y trabaja en Nueva York.
Después de estudiar en la Parsons School of Design, rápidamente se hizo notar por sus retratos de celebridades, seguidos de importantes campañas publicitarias internacionales. En 2005 presentó su primera exposición en Berlín, pasando así de la condición de fotógrafo profesional a la de artista, confirmada por la publicación de su libro "Amor y otras historias". Los fondos urbanos, desde Nueva York hasta Hong Kong como decorados opulentos, están habitados por mujeres fatales atrapadas cuando la tensión está en su apogeo.
En efecto, el carácter profundamente cinematográfico que caracteriza su obra es el resultado de varios temas que le son queridos: la melancolía, el sexo y el humor. Tanto psicológicos como voyeristas, sus obras tienen la particularidad de recuperar de forma concreta las emociones enterradas en cada uno de nosotros.
Publicado regularmente por TeNeues, sus libros van acompañados de exposiciones en las galerías internacionales más prestigiosas desde Miami hasta Estambul, junto a artistas legendarios como Andy Warhol o Helmut Newton. Presente en colecciones privadas de gran importancia, las fotografías de David Drebin baten regularmente récords, como "Central Park", ahora agotada, negociada en 78.000 dólares en Art Miami en 2010. Más recientemente, el artista presentó su última serie de monografías. llamado "Hermosos desastres", que también es el tema de una publicación.
